Description
The MOC7811 is an infrared-based optical sensor. It contains an IR emitter and receiver pair mounted facing each other. It can be used with encoders to detect wheel speed, angle, etc. When the light emitted by IR LED is blocked because of alternating slots on the encoder disc logic level of the photodiode changes. The microcontroller or discrete hardware can detect this shift in logic level.
