Description
The LM7805 series of three terminal positive regulators is available in the TO-220 package and with a variety of preset output voltages, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Each kind incorporates internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe operating area protection, making it almost unbreakable. They can provide more than 1A of output current if suitable heat sinking is given. Although intended primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can be used in conjunction with external components to provide adjustable voltages and currents.
