Description

ESPRESSIF ESP32-WROOM-32 MCU Modules are powerful and generic Wi-Fi/BT/BLE MCU modules that target a wide variety of applications.

These modules target applications ranging from low-power sensor networks to the most demanding tasks, such as voice encoding, music streaming, and MP3 decoding. The ESP32-WROOM-32U module is different from ESP32-WROOM-32D as it integrates a U.FL connector which needs to be connected to an external IPEX antenna.

The ESP32-WROOM-32 MCU Modules use the ESP32-D0WD chip at their core. This SoC features two CPU cores that can be individually controlled, and the CPU clock frequency is adjustable from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. The ESP32 integrates a rich set of peripherals, ranging from capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I2S, and I2C.

This is a family of ESP32-based modules with some integrated key components, including a crystal oscillator and an antenna matching circuit. The modules constitute ready-made solutions for integration into final products. If combined with a few extra components, such as a programming interface, bootstrapping resistors, and pin headers, these modules can also be used for the evaluation of ESP32’s functionality.

Further Info

An ESP-WROOM-32 module with a Tensilica Xtensa Dual-Core 32-bit LX6 CPU is included on the development board. It has two CPU cores (each of which can be operated independently), a clock frequency of 80 to 240 MHz, and up to 600 DMIPS of performance (Dhrystone Million Instructions Per Second).
The ESP32 has an HT40 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi transceiver, which allows it to not only connect to a WiFi network to access the Internet but also to build its own network to which other devices may join directly. The ESP32 also supports WiFi Direct, which is a good option for peer-to-peer connections that don't require an access point. The chip is both Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE/Bluetooth Smart) and Bluetooth Classic (BT) compatible, making it even more flexible. Read more
