This flight controller is based on 3DR robotics' rapidly evolving and refined Ardupilot mega, or "APM." With the optional GPS Module, the user can convert any fixed-wing, rotary-wing, or multirotor vehicle into a fully autonomous vehicle capable of performing a wide range of tasks, including programmed GPS missions with waypoints. It is a full-fledged autopilot capable of autonomous stabilization, way-point navigation, and two-way telemetry via radio telemetry modules. It has 8 RC channels and 4 serial ports. There are a variety of user interfaces available for programming, reviewing logs, and even some Apps for smartphones and tablets.

The optional telemetry radio allows for two-way radio communication, giving you complete control and sending live data back to your computer or tablet. With features, flight modes, and supported platforms, the list of what this flight controller can do has quickly been surpassed by the list of what it cannot. Thousands of users contribute to the APM project, which aims to make this open-source flight controller one of the best on the market.
